TEHRAN – Representatives from the Organization of the Islamic Conference have endorsed draft resolutions proposed by Iran to be discussed at the OIC ministerial meeting in Astana, Kazakhstan, from June 28 to 30.

At the preparatory meeting of the 38th Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Jeddah, the Iranian delegation, headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammad Mahdi Akhoundzadeh, put forward three proposals concerning human rights and two proposals for worldwide nuclear disarmament, which were approved by other member states.
During the Jeddah meeting, which ended on Tuesday, the representatives of 50 OIC member states reviewed the OIC Secretariat’s periodical report on the implementation of the ten-year action plan and the new charter of the organization, KUNA reported.
The ten-year action plan and the new charter of the organization envisage the promotion of the good-governance, transparency, accountability, social justice and human rights in the OIC states.
According to the report, the preparatory meeting also reviewed a range of draft resolutions on economic, scientific, technological, cultural, social and humanitarian cooperation due to be endorsed by the upcoming OIC ministerial meeting.
Iran proposed that August 5 would be designated as the day of the Islamic human rights and human dignity.
Iran also presented a proposal for a nuclear-weapons-free Middle East and a proposal for the total abolition of nuclear weapons.
In addition, the Iranian delegation suggested modifications to other countries’ proposals for the prevention of sacrilegious actions and the desecration of the Holy Quran and tried to highlight the need for the Islamic unity and solidarity to counter the growing threats against the Islamic countries.
Iran also described the Zionist regime’s nuclear program as a serious threat to the international peace and security and called on the international community to pressurize Israel to abide by the international norms.
